<p>Edward David Hunsucker, a cherished father and friend to many, went home to be with Jesus on March 10th, 2025 at age 92. He passed peacefully with his family by his side. </p><p>Ed was born in Marion, SC to the late Maxie Laverne and Leila (Cooper) Hunsucker on March 27, 1932. He married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Ann Ammons, on July 4th, 1952. </p><p>Ed was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was trained as a Senior telephone operator at Ft. Benning GA, and later as a Wireman and truck driver at Ft. Jackson, SC. He was awarded both the Army National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. </p><p>After his service to our country he did many jobs and then found something he loved. He became a Tool and Die maker creating original parts for manufacturing. He worked at Electro Motive manufacturing in Florence and later as a Tool and Die design engineer at AVM in Mullins. </p><p>After retirement, he and Dot moved to their place at the lake in Manning, SC. They enjoyed hosting their family and friends. Never being one to be idle, Ed took another job in the community at the local Recycling Center. His main job was to sit and talk to people as they came through. The one thing he loved to do. He did this for 15 years retiring at age 89. </p><p>To know Ed, was to love him. He always had a big smile, hug or a song waiting to share with those he loved. At home, he had his hymnal open and would sing a song to anyone who would listen. He loved life. He was a generous and compassionate husband, father and grandfather. </p><p>He enjoyed working in his garden and creating “his projects” in his workshop. His grands always said “Pappy can fix anything!” He enjoyed word search puzzles, playing cards and a good hot cup of coffee. He was also a great cook and was especially known for his fried chicken. He was a very active member in his home church, Greeleyville Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon and singing in the choir. </p><p>Ed was preceded in death by his parents and all six of his siblings: Ruth (William) Capps, Fred (Eva), Lee (Viola), Roy (Cornelia), George (Mary Ellen), Mack (Ruth). </p><p>He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dot, who he called his “sweetheart” and the most beautiful women he ever saw; his four children, (Eddie) Ann Shumpert, Morris (Becky) Hunsucker, Victor Hunsucker, and Jan (Stewart) Flowers. And by all eight of his grandchildren: Angie (Shalin) Kowalke, Amanda Williams, Dean (Bethany) Hunsucker, Carrie (Misael) Gomora, Henry Hunsucker, Max Hunsucker, Justin (Joanna) Flowers, Mallory (Austin) Couch and 15 Great-Grandchildren. </p><p>A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2025 at Red Bank Baptist Church, 1357 S Lake Dr. Lexington, SC 29073, at 2pm. The family will receive friends one&nbsp; hour &nbsp;prior to the service. </p><p>At a later date, his family will gather at Fort Jackson National Cemetery where he will receive military honors. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </p>
