<p><p>Virginia Carol Eshelman Smith, 84, of Hummelstown, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at her home with her loving family by her side.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in New Cumberland on October 13, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Meriam Waugh Eshelman.</p><p><br></p><p>Carol was a devoted homemaker whose world was centered around her family. She enjoyed playing Bingo and trying her luck at the casino. </p><p><br></p><p>Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Smith, Sr., on February 20, 2021.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by two sons, Donald E. Smith, Jr. husband of Christina of Hummelstown, and Robert Smith husband of Stefanie of Shermans Dale; one daughter, Carolann Frederick wife of Jay of Camp Hill; six grandchildren, Danielle McCloskey wife of Michael, Torrie Shiley husband of Leia, Justin Smith, Robert Smith Jr. husband of Erinn, Hunter Smith and Evan Shiley fiancé of Ella; five great grandchildren, Matthew McCloskey, Camden McCloskey, Owen Shiley, Addyson Shiley and Emerson McCloskey; and one brother, Stanley Shaffer of Florida.</p><p><br></p><p>A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 10 AM in the Hummelstown Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 W. Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the services.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Residential Home Health & Hospice, 5440 Corporate Drive, Ste. 400, Troy, MI 48098.
