It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marvin Wilkinson on March 7, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, at the age of 73 years.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife and partner, Marianne Grier. Together for over 33 years, they shared a lifetime that celebrated many joys and navigated many challenges. Marvin is also survived by his two brothers, Sid (Patty) and Les (Leona), and nieces Jodie (Sebastian & Oliver) and Lisa (Zach & Rylee), who will remember him not only as an older brother and uncle but as a gentle, steadfast voice in the family. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and nephews and nieces.

Marvin "Marv” was born in Altona on June 24, 1951, and was a cherished husband, brother, stepfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed and always remembered as a devoted husband and partner, a respected big brother and a good friend. Marv's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but we are comforted knowing he is now at peace with his parents, Roy and Lil, Oma (Susan Enns) and stepson Scott (Grier).

Marv grew up and lived in the small rural communities of Ridgeville, Emerson and Dominion City, where he attended local schools, and formed many lifelong friendships. His early years on the farm greatly influenced the person he was and became.

After school, Marv embarked on a successful career as an insurance broker. His friendly and easygoing nature served him well and he was well respected by his co-workers and customers alike. Like his dad, Marv was actively involved in various associations over the years, where he contributed his time and support to his community.

Marvin was an avid sports enthusiast and nature lover. His passion was playing golf with his lifelong golfing buddy, Stan, and going on golf trips with Les, Bob and Stan. Marvin also enjoyed curling with Larry for 33 years and played goalie for many years. He loved watching and cheering for his favorite hockey and football teams. After his retirement, Marvin enjoyed having many dinners with family and friends on the deck and having a toast of scotch with his lifetime friend, Herb. Marvin loved working in the yard, enjoying nature’s bounty and going to The Club for coffee. He also took pleasure in helping Sid and his neighbors with their harvest and fall work.

No formal funeral service will be held. Marvin’s life will be celebrated at a later date in a private memorial ceremony attended by family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice or plant a beautiful tree in Marvin’s memory.

Thank you to Corey Wall, Morris Funeral Home, for his care and compassion during this difficult time.

We love you and miss you. Rest in peace.
