Norma J. Richey
<p>Norma Jean Richey, a cherished soul who graced this world with her warmth and compassion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Bloomington, Indiana. Born on December 23, 1926, in Saluda, Indiana, to Clarence and Gladys (Hall) Craig, Norma Jean's life was one of love, dedication, and service.</p><p><br></p><p>Her indomitable spirit was only matched by the love she had for her family. She was the loving wife of the late Albert "Tuffy" Richey, sharing a bond that was a commitment for all who knew them. Norma Jean was the heart of her family, a revered matriarch who instilled values of kindness and faith. She is predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Gladys Craig; as well as her brothers, Jim and George Craig and nephews, Tim and Brian.</p><p><br></p><p>Norma Jean's memory will be honored and deeply missed by her daughters, Melony Paine and her husband Gary, and Penny Caudill and her husband Pat. Her grandchildren, Kyle Cade and his wife Amy, Zach Caudill, Bryan Paine and his wife Rebecca, and Kristen Moore and her husband Matt, will hold onto the lessons and memories with fondness. Her great-grandchildren, Laila and Kacy Jean Cade; Sarah and Jacob Paine; Emma and Bella Moore, will grow up hearing tales of their great-grandmother's love and virtue. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews whom she adored beyond measure.</p><p><br></p><p>Norma Jean's calling was to nurture not only her family but also her community. She taught Sunday school for many years, was a devoted member of the North Madison Baptist Church, and retired from a fulfilling career at Tower Manufacturing. Alongside her husband, she contributed to the success of several local restaurants, touching the lives of many through her work.</p><p><br></p><p>Her joys in life were manifold-the Sunday dinners, the laughter shared over cups of coffee, the quiet moments of prayer. Norma Jean's interests and contributions to her family were substantial and shone brightest.</p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks are extended to the compassionate caregivers from Elder's Journey, Bell Trace Health and Living, and IU Health Hospice, who provided unwavering support in her final months.</p><p><br></p><p>A graveside service, for family, will be held at a later date as well as a celebration of life. Both will be held in Madison, Indiana. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with cremation arrangements.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers donations may be made to N.
