<p>Rosalie Jean Mattair, 27, most recently of Portland, Oregon, passed into God’s loving arms on February 20th, 2025.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>She was born on January 7th, 1998, to Christopher Mattair and Valerie (Slembarski) Mattair Johnson.</p><p><br></p><p>Rosalie was a singularly gifted artist, making elaborate pictures of dragons since she could hold a marker and undergoing intensive training in the fine arts. She completed with honors a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin Stout, a polytechnic university. She majored in Entertainment Design with a concentration in Comic and Sequential Art. Her work has been published in Volume One magazine and she showed at a recent exhibit at StudioJKH in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Her greatest love was oil painting. She was also an insightful writer, creating imaginative stories with illustrations and filling journals with ruminations and sketches on esoteric topics such as emotional alchemy and God.</p><p><br></p><p>Rosalie will also be remembered for her profound intelligence, incisive and whimsical sense of humor, beauty &amp; fashion sense, and tenderness for children, animals, and the vulnerable. She had a passion for literature and an eclectic taste in music.</p><p><br></p><p>She was predeceased by grandfather Robert Mattair, grandmothers Katherine Mattair, Clara Slembarski, her godmother, Katherine Westervelt, and her aunt Ann Mattair.</p><p><br></p><p>Rosalie’s mother, father, and younger sister Juliette will profoundly miss this radiant flower of their lives. She is also survived by her stepfather Richard Johnson, grandfather Andrew Slembarski, aunt Andrea (Slembarski) Hamblen, uncles Christopher Slembarski of Columbus, GA, Thomas Mattair of Fairfax, VA, Peter Mattair of San Francisco, CA, David Mattair of Irvine, CA, stepsister Jessica Michaels of Waukesha, WI, and stepbrother Matthew Johnson of Sylmar, CA. Also surviving are cousins Andrew and Anna Slembarski, Mollie Hamblen; and Anthony, Joseph, Laura, Nicholas, and Olivia Mattair.</p><p><br></p><p>A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1730 Fowler Avenue, Berwick, with Rev. William T. Barbee officiating as Celebrant.</p><p><br></p><p>Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Berwick.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., Berwick.</p><p><br></p><p>For additional information or to send online condolences, please visit www.mayofh.com.</p><p><br></p>
