Marian L. Yeager-Ridington, born October 5, 1929, passed away at Nottingham Nursing Home, Northumberland, on Thursday February 20, 2025. She was 95 years old. Services will take place at Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, PA on Wednesday February 26 starting at 9:30am, after which she will be laid to rest in Northumberland Memorial Park beside her first husband, Ralph E. Yeager. Marian was born Marian Lucille Herrick in Nile, NY. When she was a young teenager, the family moved to 3rd St in Sunbury. Next door lived the Yeagers, where she one day caught sight of a stunning uniformed man in the back yard on leave from the Army Air Corps, named Ralph E. Yeager. After graduating from Sunbury High School, she and Ralph got married on October 12, 1947, in Baltimore, MD. The couple with their young children moved to Mountainside, NJ, where they lived until Ralph's death in 1985 at the age of 62. While living in NJ, Marian worked at Schmidt & Sons jewelry making, and then as an exceptional and self-taught bookkeeper at both Elkay Products in Springfield, and for Drs. Brown and Fuhrman in Westfield. Marian returned to Sunbury in 1988 and dedicated herself to taking care of her new house, then helped her father, then mother, caring for them until their passing. She later met and married Orrin Ridington on New Year’s Day in 2000, and they shared many happy years together until his passing in 2019. Marian enjoyed raising her family, was an avid bowler, and had a passion for painting. She also loved both round and square dancing. Marian is survived by her daughter, Sharon A. Shinas; her granddaughters, Colonel Athanasia Shinas and Maria Maddox; and two great-grandchildren, Thaddeus and Theodora Maddox, who knew her as “Graham Cracker”. She is survived also by her son, Ralph E. Yeager Jr, his wife Mary, and their two sons, James and Justin Yeager. Known as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, “Graham Cracker”, and friend to all who knew her, Marian will be greatly missed. Her family thanks all those empathetic and amazing individuals at Geisinger Hospital in Danville, those at Nottingham Village’s Retirement Center and Nursing Care, and the wonder staff at Geisinger.
