<p>Mike McNair, age 82, a resident of Richland Center, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025.</p><p><br></p><p>Mike was born on January 21, 1943, in Fort Branch, Indiana, to Ruth (Brown) McNair and Melvin McNair. He graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1961, received a bachelor’s degree in English education from Oakland City College in 1966, and earned a master’s degree in counseling from Northern Illinois University in 1971.</p><p><br></p><p>From 1966 to 1972, Mike taught English for 5 years and was a guidance counselor for 1 year in Carpentersville, Illinois. In the fall of 1972, he accepted a guidance counseling position at Richland Center High School, retiring in 2001.</p><p><br></p><p>Writing became Mike’s postretirement passion. From May 2005 until January 2014, he penned his own humor column, “Mike’s World,” on Midwest News, an online newspaper. In 2013, he became a field editor and contributor for Our Wisconsin Magazine, an undertaking he enjoyed for the rest of his life. He also authored 5 traditionally published books.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald, and his sister-in-law, Rita.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nancy, of Richland Center; sisters Lari and Billy McNair of South Elgin, Illinois; children Dundee McNair of Middleton and Brooke (McNair) Kemp (Chad) of Kimberly; and grandsons, Kaden and Kameron Kemp of Kimberly.</p><p><br></p><p>At Mike’s request, there will be no funeral. He invites friends to celebrate his life by visiting his website and blog at mikemcnair.yolasite.com. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.</p><p><br></p>
