Susie Alba Garza

Today the Lord prepared a seat for our mother in His Kingdom as the angels welcomed her home. Susie Alba Garza was born in Ozona, Texas on August 25, 1937, and gained her wings on Saturday, February 15, 2025.

Leaving to cherish Susie’s memory is her daughter, Elizabeth Rubio (Gilbert); grandchildren, Raquel Trevino (Martin), Stephanie Cantu (Nicholas), Dakota Ring (Loryn), Ashley Cardenas, Robert Martinez, Jr. (Chineal) and Elizabeth Danielle Cardenas; brothers and sisters, Joe Alba Garza, Rosa Garza White (Santiago), Tommy Alba Garza, Margie Garza Gomez, and Ruth Alba Garza; and many great-grandchildren, that all, only know her as “Mother”.

Susie attended Cosmetology school in Arlington, Texas where she became a Licensed Beautician. She had a passion for helping others, which encouraged her to earn her CNA certification where she worked in the Healthcare field. She would also volunteer her time and skills at the nursing home, offering residents haircuts while sharing the word of God. In her later years, she was a member of the Pink Ladies group at the Odessa Regional Hospital and would assist wherever she was needed. She loved sharing her testimony with everyone young and old. She would leave bible booklets everywhere she visited hoping to bring someone to the Lord. Often telling us that this was a way to save souls for God’s Kingdom, which she believed was her mission in life. Mother embraced a strong faith, always finding a church home. And she absolutely adored all of her church family at GracePoint Church in Portland, Texas. Her sisters in Christ loved her as much as she loved them. When relaxing at home, Susie passed time by crafting, crocheting and collecting lighthouses’ keepsakes. She quilted blankets for her great grandbabies that loved spending time with her. The children gave mother so much joy and happiness. She was a true beacon of love and laughter, and we miss her tremendously. We tenderly cared for Mother in the comfort of her own home, making sure we honored her last wishes.

She embodied the best of qualities, unconditional love, strength of spirit and an unending faith. Our family shall instill the love she showed us in our children, and we will always cherish the memories she gave us.

Susie was preceded in death by her son, Robert L.
