<p>Sharon Marie LaBorde, a beacon of love and adventure, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Ahoskie, NC, at the age of 82. Born on June 7, 1942, in Adams County, ND, Sharon's zest for life and her unwavering spirit touched everyone she met. </p><p>Sharon's journey through life was one of joy and dedication. She found her soulmate in square dancing, a passion that led her to the love of her life, David Ellard. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to companionship and mutual adoration, spanning over thirty-eight years. Together, they built a life full of laughter, love, and dance. </p><p>Her spirit of adventure took her from the scenic landscapes of California, where she lived for most of her life, to various parts of the United States, embracing each new chapter with enthusiasm and grace. Sharon's love for the outdoors was evident in her fondness for hiking, an activity through which she often found solace and strength. </p><p>A devoted mother and grandmother, Sharon's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is survived by her husband, David Ellard of Wilson, NC; her sons, Don Rascento of Wilson, NC, and Randy Rascento and his wife Kanako of Saratoga, CA; her cherished grandchildren, Christian Rascento of Fremont, CA, and Chloe Rascento of Wilson, NC; as well as Ebonie Christie and her husband Troy, whom she regarded as a granddaughter, from Arizona, and Harley & Rowan Christie who were like great-grandchildren to her. </p><p>Throughout her career, Sharon demonstrated a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence, which culminated in her retirement from McCormick & Company. </p><p>Sharon's life was a beautiful portrait of the qualities she embodied: loving and adventurous. She approached every day with a heart full of love, whether it was for her family, friends, or the natural world around her. Her adventurous spirit was not just in her travels, but in her everyday interactions, where she embraced every moment with curiosity and vitality. The legacy Sharon leaves behind is one of unconditional love, a sense of adventure that knew no bounds, and a life lived with genuine kindness. </p><p>A graveside service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson, NC with Pastor Claire Colcord officiating. </p>
