Jesus Andino Alvarado

Jesus “Jay” Andino Alvarado, 75, of Douglassville and formerly of Pottstown, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 31, 2025, at Reading Hospital. Born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, on September 14, 1949, he was the son of the late Felix and Gloria (Alvarado) Andino. Jay proudly served in the United States Army for over 20 years, dedicating himself to his country with honor and commitment. After his military service, he continued serving his community as a Corrections Officer with the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department in NJ. To further his commitment to community service, he was a Commander in the Royal Rangers, an organization dedicated to the development of young men in life skills and having a spiritual connection with God. As a Commander, Jay was a key leader of the Royal Rangers and was a role model for the young men of the Rangers. As a man of deep faith, Jay attended Hope Community Church in Gilbertsville since 2019. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Angela (Doug) VanSickle, Andro Andino, Adam (Lashana) Andino, Anita (John) Rundy, and Giovanni Mercedes; his grandchildren, A.J. Colgate, Yasmine Andino, Xavier Andino, Isabella Rundy, and Christian Rundy; and his siblings, Jose (Shirley) Andino, Iris (Tony) Bermudez, Felix Junior (Maria) Andino, and Elizabeth Andino. In addition to his parents, Jay was predeceased by his wife, Ana Andino; and his siblings, Robert Andino and Jane White. A viewing will be held on February 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with interment afterward at Fairview Cemetery, 317 W. Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown, PA 19512.
