Richard Paul Sanborn

Richard Sanborn, 69, of Neptune, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Saturday, February 1st. He fought a courageous and difficult fight with cancer for over four years. His strength throughout his battle has given his family the ability to stand by him in his final moments here with us.

Richard was born and raised in Rumson before settling in Neptune where he raised his family. He worked hard his entire career as a Union Laborer on jobs all around the state. Richard lived a very humble and quiet life, he didn't know any other way. As an amazing girl dad, he was outnumbered 4 to 1 with his wife and daughters. Richard was a man of few words, mainly because he never got a chance to talk with all his girls around. He loved watching his daughters, nieces and nephews play sports often cheering on the sidelines after a long work day.

Home was by far his favorite place to be. He loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, happy hour with his wife, and bird watching in the backyard. Richard could often be found outside with his biggest pain in the neck, his precious dog.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Bernice Sanborn, his brother Robert Sanborn, and his in-laws, Ed and Peg Connor.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Cathy, his three daughters and sons-in-law, Katie and Jimmy Allen, Amy and Brian Boney and Maggie Sanborn, his cherished grandchildren Emily, Juliana and James Allen, and his most loyal companion, Wilson. He also leaves behind his brother Ronnie, sister Shirl, many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and so many nieces and nephews who he loved so deeply. His quiet presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. with a Funeral Service being held at 7:30 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. Cremation is private.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Richard's name to St. James School in Philadelphia. www.stjamesphila.org
