<p>Richard "Rick" R. Cody, age 67, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on January 24, 2025. A Wyoming native, Rick was born on May 19, 1957, to Robert and Lois Cody (nee Whitmeyer). In addition to his parents, Rick is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Beverly Cody (nee Stier), daughters, Allison (David) Provaznik and Amanda (Tyler) Murphy, three grandchildren, Benjamin, Zoe, and Rowan, and his brother, David Cody.</p><p><br></p><p>Rick graduated from Wyoming High School in 1975. He attended Miami University from 1975-1977 and then went to The Ohio State University from 1978-1980 after he took 6 months off to work for a commercial fresh water testing company. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Freshwater Biology. In 1981, he started working at Fries &amp; Fries as a Lab Technician and was promoted to Flavor Chemist in 1985. Working with several Flavor Houses in the Cincinnati area, Rick had a successful career creating flavors for well known companies, which gave him the opportunity to make friends with many of his peers, and to travel internationally, retiring in 2020.</p><p><br></p><p>Rick was an avid reader of history and had a talent for building sailing ships models. He also enjoyed cooking, fishing, golf, and playing virtual war games. He always looked forward to his annual trip to a small lake in Northern Ontario, Canada. He had a love for sports and was a dedicated fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals &amp; The Ohio State Buckeyes. Rick was fortunate to witness the Buckeyes win the 2025 National Title shortly before his passing.</p><p><br></p><p>Rick's caring heart made it easy for him to make friends, and he cherished spending time with his family and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>A Celebration of Rick's Life will take place on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 PM at Spring Grove Funeral Homes (Event Center), 4389 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45223.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to plant a shrub or tree in Rick's honor. Monetary donations can also be made to the <a href="//www.wyomingschoolfoundation.org/">Wyoming School Foundation</a>, <a href="//www.arborday.org/">Arbor Day Foundation</a> or <a href="//www.alz.org/">Alzheimer's Association</a>.</p><p><br></p>
