Walter Kyle Montgomery

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Walter Kyle Montgomery, 32, of Prospect, Ohio, who left us too soon on January 28, 2025. Kyle was a beloved fiancé, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his warmth, humor, and his incredible ability to fix anything with an engine. His family and friends knew him as a true “jack of all trades” who could work on anything from snowmobiles to diesel trucks—and if it could run, then he could fix it. As he often said, "I could start a rock."

He is survived by his fiancé, Megan; sons, Caden and Casen; parents, Ray and Jacquee Montgomery; sister, Kori Montgomery; brother, Kaine (Ajah) Montgomery; nieces, Octavia and Zarha Montgomery; grandparents, Meridel Erwin, Dave Little, and Great Grandma Richardson; uncles, Ronald Montgomery, Randy (Tracy) Montgomery, Brent Ransome; cousins, Ryan Montgomery, Chelsey (Brad) Henning, and Ronnie Montgomery; countless other cousins, aunts and uncles; and his chosen family Krista, Timothy, and Tanner. He was lovingly called “Uncle Walt” by many of his friend’s and family’s children. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ron and Linda Montgomery, and Pete and Jenny Ransome.

Kyle’s life is defined by his sense of adventure, love for his family and friends, and passion for the things that brought him joy. He loved his annual Christmas shopping trip and snowmobiling every winter with his special friend Kurt May. Kyle loved being outside. From his teenage years spent mud running at Snake Trails to his later travels across the U.S. from Maine, Michigan down to Louisiana. Kyle’s spirit was always filled with curiosity and excitement, living life to the fullest wherever the road—or trail—took him.

He had an infectious love for his family, particularly his fiancé, Megan. Together, they shared countless memories, including traveling all over Ohio hunting for car parts and enjoying dinners at Baker's Pizza and Old 30 BBQ in Bucyrus. Kyle was also known for his love of Christmas, taking great joy in decorating his home and creating memories with his family, much like the ones he shared with his dad when they went hunting for holiday yard blow-ups. He loved animals, and it was never uncommon for a cat to just happen to show up wherever he went.

A celebration of Kyle's life will be held at Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center at 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015 on Tuesday, February 4th. Calling hours will be held from 4:00PM - 6:00PM with the service immediately after from 6:00PM - 7:00PM. In honor of Kyle’s laid-back spirit, we encourage all friends and family to wear their Carhartt gear or casual clothes—no formal attire, please.

His larger-than-life personality will be missed dearly. His legacy of laughter, adventure, and love for all things that go “braaapp braaapp” will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

Please visit www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com to leave an online condolence.
