<p>Jonilka “Joni” Banet Calcano, 33, was born on December 17, 1991, in New York City to her parents, Ana María Felix and Fernando Calcano of the Dominican Republic, and passed away on January 23, 2025. Jonilka was raised in Providence, Rhode Island, alongside her younger sister, Elta, where she cultivated her creativity and developed a vast love for artistry, photography, music, and nature. Jonilka was a loving, humble, silly, strong-willed, and free-spirited soul who found beauty in mysticism and the world around her. Her resiliency and authenticity left a lasting impact on those fortunate to know her. She is survived by her parents, Ana María and Fernando; her sisters, Elta and Fernanda; and her brothers, Vladimir and Fernando. Jonilka left this world too soon, leaving behind an unfillable void, and will be missed beyond measure. She is flying towards another dimension.</p><p><br></p><p>Joni's services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral and Cremation Service, 168 Academy Ave, Providence. Jonilka fue criada en la ciudad de Providencia en el estado de Rhode Island al lado de su hermana menor, Elta, a donde ella cultivó su creatividad y desarrolló un amor inmenso por las artes, fotografía, música, y la naturaleza. Jonilka era una alma cariñosa y humilde que le gustaba sus payasadas. Ella era de carácter y voluntad fuerte, y era un espíritu libre y independiente, que encontraba belleza en el misticismo y en el mundo que la rodeaba. Su resiliencia y autencidad dejaron huellas profundas en quienes tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. A ella les sobreviven sus padres, Ana María y Fernando; sus hermanas Elta y Fernanda; y sus hermanos, Vladimir y Fernando. Jonilka a partido de este mundo demasiado temprano, dejando un vacío imposible de llenar, y será extrañada sin medida.
