<p>Antonuzzo “Antonio” Cannizzaro, age 99, resident of Bayport died on January 23, 2025. </p><p>Antonio was born in Arzona di Filandari, Italy in 1925 and grew up during World War II the oldest of seven siblings. Rather than traditional schooling, Antiono self-taught everything he did. He taught himself to read and write, sing and play the organ at church, and build his first bicycle out of wood. </p><p>In 1948, Antonio traveled to Argentina in the hopes of finding work to support his family back at home. There he met the love of his life, Luisa. Antonio chased Luisa for six years, and the two eventually married despite her mother’s wishes. Antonio and Luisa then started their family, raising five of their seven sons in Argentina before emigrating to the United States. </p><p>Antonio and his family settled in Inwood, New York where he established a successful bakery. He and Luisa remained there for many years before moving to Bayport. Luisa passed soon after, but Antonio made sure to visit her at Holy Sepulche Cemetery every Sunday as long as he was physically able. </p><p>Antonio is predeceased by his son Joseph. He is survived by Joseph’s wife Lynn and his children, Louis and his wife Cheryl, Tony, Michael and his wife Nancy, Frank and his wife Grace, John and his wife Guadalupe, and Peter and his fiancé Maria. He leaves behind 28 cherished grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. </p><p>Family will receive visitors on Sunday, January 26 at Raynor & D’Andrea 683 Montauk Highway, Bayport from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will take place at 9:45am Monday at Our Lady of the Snow. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram. </p>
