<p>ARNAUDVILLE ~&nbsp;Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Carroll Louis LaPorte, age 80, who passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025 at St. Agnes Healthcare and Rehab in Breaux Bridge.</p><p><br></p><p>Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Garrett McIntyre, pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Lauren Boudreaux and Harriet LaPorte. Giftbearers will be Melissa LaPorte Parker, Monique Kidder Breaux, and Tiffany LaPorte Stelly.</p><p><br></p><p>Musical selections will be provided by Debbie Leblanc, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross, Here I Am Lord, and One Bread, One Body.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. LaPorte was born and raised in Arnaudville, having been a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Roman Catholic Church. A veteran of the military, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War earning a Silver Star for saving another serviceman from drowning in Hawaii where he was stationed; despite not knowing how to swim! Upon his discharge from the military, Mr. LaPorte began employment in the oil and gas industry, working for McDermott and later, PHI.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include two brothers, Lloyd LaPorte and his wife, Arlene, of Tucson, AZ and LeeRoy LaPorte of Arnaudville; and two sisters-in-law, Sandra LaPorte and Jeanne LaPorte.</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre LaPorte, Sr. and the former Cecil Frederick; five brothers, Eric LaPorte, Harry Patrick LaPorte, Marvin Laporte, Pierre LaPorte, Jr., and Frederick LaPorte; two sisters, Rita Mae Kidder and Janice LaPorte; and two sisters-in-law, Norma LaPorte and Jeanette LaPorte.</p><p><br></p><p>A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home by Sandra LaPorte, Myra Boudreaux, and Chris LaPorte.</p><p><br></p><p>The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.</p><p><br></p><p>Pallbearers will be Glen LaPorte, Harry LaPorte, Jr., Chris LaPorte, Spencer LaPorte, Ty Boudreaux, and Scotty Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Kurt LaPorte, Byron LaPorte, Todd LaPorte, Kent LaPorte, Steven LaPorte, Tony Kidder, Michael Kidder, Doug Kidder, and Donovan Kidder.</p><p><br></p><p>The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Hope Healthcare and Hospice, especially Bobbi Davidson, RN, Desiree Polk, RN, and Deacon Russell Hayes for their compassion, and to St. Agnes Nursing Home for the wonderful care.</p><p><br></p><p>Melancon Funeral Home of Arnaudville, 224 Main Street, (337) 754-5725, is in charge of arrangements.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
