Memorial trees planted for:
Ronald Walter Brown Sr.

Ronald Walter Brown Sr., affectionately known as “Brown”, was born on October 23, 1944 to the late Mitchell Albert Brown and Elmer Pearl Quillens Brown. He was one of seven children born to this wonderful union. Ronald was educated in the Orleans Parish School system where he attended Medard H. Nelson Elementary School, Andrew J. Bell Junior High School, and George Washington Carver Senior High School. Throughout his life, Ronald held many jobs as a skilled craftsman and general construction laborer where he was able to employ his many skills and talents as well as his hidden artistic talents. He was often jokingly referred to as “McGuyver” by family for his uncanny ability to seem to be able to solve or come up with unique solutions to any problem that came about.

Ronald was baptized at a young age at the Asia Baptist Church by the late Rev. Edward Madison. As an adult, Bro. Brown placed his membership at Greater Power Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Blaise D. Polk, Sr. where he remained until he evacuated for Hurricane Katrina. While living in Little Rock, Arkansas, Bro. Brown was under the watch care of Rev. Judge Green at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. After two years, Bro. Brown returned home and placed his membership under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Raymond C. Hughes at Little St. John Baptist Church where he was a choir member, and then finally at Greater Grace Christian Center where he remained under Pastor Hughes’ pastorship until his passing. At Greater Grace, “Papa Brown” served as an occasional praise team member and was in preparation to become a deacon in the church. Additionally, Papa Brown was known for manning the coffee station at the annual Taste of Grace event, as well as lending his quiet support and guidance to the men of the ministry.

Brown was known as many things to many people but the titles he held most dear were husband, father and Gramps. Sixty-four years ago, on December 3, 1960, Brown married the love of his life and became half of a storied couple who are referred to as “Forever”, Lynn Golden. Childhood sweethearts, Brown and Lynn were blessed with three amazing children, Linda, Ronald Jr. and Latoye; three grandchildren, Roeshawn, Kwante and Angel; and three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Grant and Matthew. Brown enjoyed nothing more than sitting around listening to music, surrounded by his clan. Even though Brown blessed them with a long and happy life, the hole his passing has created will never be mended.

Brown was preceded to Glory by his parents, Mitchell Albert Brown and Elmer Pearl Quillens Brown; in-laws Louvernia Sanders Golden and Clarence Golden; brothers Albert Mitchell Brown, Chester Brown, and Belford Brown; sister Rose Copeland; brothers-in-law Raymond Golden, O’Neal Golden, Alphonse Golden, Leon Horton, Donald Polk Sr., Lionel Blake, and Raymond Williams; sisters-in-law Diane Woods and Rita Brown; and grandson-in-law Cornel August Peters Jr.

Ronald Brown Sr. leaves a large family to mourn his passing including wife, Lynn Golden Brown, children Linda Marie Brown, Ronald Walter (Gayle) Brown Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, and Latoye Aisha Brown.
