<p>Virgil Goddard, age 70, passed away peacefully at his residence in Canton, Georgia on January 8, 2025.</p><p><br></p><p>Virgil graduated from Cherokee High School. He spent his career at Western Electric, AT&T and retired from Lucent Technologies.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Virgil had a deep love for the outdoors and spent countless hours hunting and fishing, hobbies that brought him great joy. He was also an avid sports fan, cheering passionately for the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. The Atlanta Falcons, however, often kept him in a tizzy.</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Anglin Goddard and Howard Goddard.</p><p><br></p><p>Virgil is survived by his sisters, Paulette Goddard, Pansie(Maurice) Moore, and Peggy(Mark) Fennell; also his brother, Bill(Paula) Goddard. He was a cherished uncle to Mark(Jenn) Goddard, Matt(Lynn) Goddard, Michael(Stephanie) Goddard, Jessica(Joey) Porter, Allyson(Chase) Kephart, Kerri(Kip) Comeaux, Kyle Fennell, Kody Fennell, Janna Moore and Kevin Moore. He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews: Billy and Caroline Goddard; Chase and Tyler Goddard; Avery and Morgan Goddard, Joe Porter; Amelia and Miles Comeaux; and Gabriel and Scarlet Moore.</p><p><br></p><p>Virgil’s favorite title was "Uncle," and he truly was the best, leaving a lasting impact on his nieces, nephews, and their families.</p><p><br></p><p>Virgil’s warmth, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Little River Methodist Church Cemetery.
