Donna Denise Stephens
<p>Ms. Donna Denise Stephens of Fairmont, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, in her home surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Coolidge Stephens and the late Mary Lee Stephens. Donna waves so long to 10 siblings, Billy Ray of Fairmont, Ernest (Rachael) of Proctorville, Marion of Fairmont, Calvin (Lynn) of Lumberton, Shella of Fairmont, Charles of Fairmont, Sharon (David) of Garner, and Annette, Michael, and Tara, all of Fairmont. </p><p>Donna was raised in a sharecropper’s family and toiled in the tobacco fields, cucumber fields and corn fields during her formative years. She graduated from Orrum High School, class of 1977. Upon completion of high school, she spent several years working at Converse and Kaiser Roth as a knitter. She often commented on how much “fun” they had working at these two businesses. This Stephens family is a product of the Wire Grass Road and worships at our home church, Antioch Baptist Church, Proctorville, North Carolina. </p><p>Donna had a light hearted, free spirit and enjoyed spending time with family, especially her nieces and nephews. She loved to dance and sing for her family during cookouts. She was a strong, independent, loving and compassionate individual and she was an excellent cook. </p><p>Her youngest sister Tara, nieces Cantara and Heaven, and nephew Quazel provided great care for her at home when she was no longer able to care for herself. She has a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Donna also had a significant impact and contribution as a caregiver in taking care of our mom when she could no longer care for herself. </p><p>Her legacy of love will continue on through her siblings, nieces, nephews and friends. </p>January 6, 202501/06/2025
