<p>Ronald L. Hunsinger, Sr., 68, of Newington, left us peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Carpenter) Hunsinger. Born in Hartford, he was a longtime Newington resident. Prior to his early retirement due to Alzheimer’s, Ron was employed by Clean Harbors Environmental Services. Known as “Low Tide Ron” he loved fishing, especially at “Joan’s Beach” in Westbrook. For many years, he bowled at T-Bowl and later at Holiday Lanes. He hosted poker games every other week and gave away scroll saw cutouts that he crafted. Ron loved to play horseshoes in the backyard, where he also enjoyed big Extravaganza parties with family and friends.</p><p>Along with Carol, he leaves his son Ronald Hunsinger, Jr. with Mariah Ennis of Plymouth, daughter Abby-Rose Hunsinger with Garron Marschall of Newington; grandchildren Kyah Flores, Tyler Hunsinger, and Cayleb Gibbons; and a great grandson Mateo Joseph. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Melissa Hunsinger.</p><p>Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. His family will celebrate his life by sharing some memories at 6:00 pm. His cremated remains will be set free in the ocean at a later date.
