Candy Vaphiadis

On January 2, 2025, Candy Vaphiadis (nee Posey) went home to be with the Lord after suffering an unexpected stroke.

Candy was born in Harbor Beach Michigan in 1947. She later moved and spent her time in Livonia until getting married and settling down in Beverly Hills Michigan.

She graduated from Michigan State University and started teaching in Livonia Public Schools. This was where she developed a network of lifelong friendships. She was a dedicated teacher for so many students and made a lasting impact on everyone she met.

She retired early to raise her children and serve in the school and church.

Candy was a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She lived for caring and serving for others. She loved her Faith and Church Community, traveling to Greece, playing bridge, cooking, hosting guests in her home, and taking care of her family- especially her grandchildren. They were the light of her life.

She was the glue to so many things. She cherished her cousins in California and Indiana, her husband’s family in Greece, Texas, and NY, her in-laws in Florida, and her brother in Arkansas. Candy tirelessly kept up with all these extended family members’ lives and made every effort to acknowledge and/or attend milestones for each and every person she cared for.

Once her grandchildren and great nephews were born, they took priority over everything. She always had endless treats, crafts, toys, and surprises for them. They all cherished playing card games with her and hearing her stories about life.

She is survived by her husband John, daughter Abby (Rafeek) Habib, son David Vaphiadis, brother Stanley Clare, and grand children Savina, Angelina, Melina, and Jonah Habib. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in life by her sister Pamela Demery and brothers Adrian and Dean Posey.

She is already so missed by her family and friends. Her servant’s heart made a lasting impact and she will never be forgotten.

John 11:25-26

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 4:00-8:00PM at A.J.
