<p>Matthew Charles Deckman, Sr. 66, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home, in Whiting, New Jersey, on the morning of December 30, 2024 after battling Multiple Systems Atrophy-Cerebellar.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Matthew was a kind and gentle soul. The only thing stronger in his life than his integrity and character was the deep love and devotion he had for his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his beloved dogs.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Born in Lewistown, PA, the son of the late Paul and Jane Deckman, Matthew was a role model for those fortunate enough to get to know him. He was a man of a few words, choosing to lead by example. Challenged at various times from a young age with a variety of serious health issues and incidents, he used them all to strengthen his faith in God and to provide us with lessons in courage, determination, and inspiring resiliency. Matthew was quiet, but a powerful warrior of gratitude, peace and love.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>He was predeceased by his parents, baby sister Rebecca Lynn, and his grandson Andrew Taylor.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Matthew is survived by his wife of almost 44 years Karen, his daughter, Juliane Joyner (Bill), his sons; Matthew Jr. (Tasha Dunda), Ryan, and Antonio Cruz. His 3 older brothers; Skip, Mark, and Jeffrey. His younger sister, Beth. His grandchildren; Jasmine, Raesean, Raekwon, Eliot, and Andie. His great grandchildren Amari, Jordynn, Jaelynn, Jocelynn, and Jaxson.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Matthew will be very deeply missed. His spirit lives in those fortunate enough to have known this amazing man. Well done, Sir.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>A service will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 10:30 AM to honor Matthew. It will be held at Christ Evangelical Church, 300 Schoolhouse Rd, Manchester NJ 08759.
