<p>Dennis passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family. He was born to the late Dennis (Co. Tyrone, Ireland) and Elizabeth (Farrell) (Co. Sligo, Ireland) Carlin, their only son. A native San Franciscan he graduated from St. Cecilia's grammar school and Sacred Heart High School and attended one year at USF.</p><p><br></p><p>He married the love of his life the late Lorrie Carlin (Steil) on August 2, 1952. Together they moved into the family home that his father built where five generations have lived. They were married 67 years. He is now reunited with Lorrie and his son Matthew (Genoveva) Carlin.</p><p><br></p><p>He leaves his loving memories to his five children; Georgene (Lawrence) Costello, Dennis (Patricia) Carlin, Julie Pastrano, Erin Carlin, and Regina Carlin.</p><p><br></p><p>Always Da to 12 grandchildren; Dr. Jessamy Cadigan, Stacey Kalinowski, Jeramiah Cadigan, Lorrie and Katie Bitz, Anthony Pastrano, Hanna Phelan, Dennis Carlin III, Cynthia Carlin, Bernard Carlin, Julie Harrington, and Matthew Carlin.</p><p><br></p><p>Great Da to his 8 great grandchildren; Liam and Colin Kalinowski, Forge Gerstbacher, Finn Wendland, James Joseph and Epiphany Phelan, Forest and Otto Pastrano.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis was preceded in death by his sisters; Dolores Kellenbach, Maureen Sturla, and Elizabeth Scannell.</p><p><br></p><p>He worked for the family business, Denny's Barrell House (3 locations). Then, he moved on to real estate. Eventually, he found his passion as a general contractor. With his sons working by his side, he proudly built buildings in San Francisco and Marin.</p><p><br></p><p>He loved his summers in the Russian River and then on to Carlin Cottages in Calistoga where Lorrie and himself generously hosted family and friends. He was a quiet man devoted to be of service to his family, neighbors, and community.</p><p><br></p><p>A heartfelt appreciation to Ana for her kindness and devoted care.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis was a lifelong parishioner of St. Cecilia's Parish. A proud friend to Bill W. for 51 years.</p><p><br></p><p>As we say in Gaelic "Ni fheicfimd a leithed aris" - we will not see the likes of him again.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends are invited to a Vigil on Wednesday, January 8th at St. Cecilia's Church, 2555 17th.
