With deep sorrow and profound love, we announce the passing of Kathleen Marie (Lieske) Spano on December 27, 2024, in St. Albans, Vermont, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous and fierce battle spanning many years.

Kathy was born on January 14, 1971, in West Islip, New York, to Lisa (Meritet) and John Lieske. Her life was marked by love, resilience, and unwavering kindness. She met her devoted husband, Domenico Spano, in Northport, New York, beginning a love story that flourished for 32 beautiful years, filled with adventures, shared dreams, and enduring partnership. Together, Kathy and Domenico built their lives in Vermont, where they didn’t just create a home but cultivated a warm and loving family. Kathy was the proud mother of their two children, Sofia and Luca, whom she loved, adored, and cherished deeply.

In 1995, Kathy and Domenico opened Mimmo's, a cornerstone of their community. Kathy’s warm smile and open heart ensured everyone felt welcomed and valued. Kathy’s love for animals was heartfelt. Her dogs, cats, and horses brought her tremendous joy throughout her lifetime. She found peace in long walks through the woods, serenity on the beach, and joy in horseback riding. She was an enthusiastic skier, skater, and boater, but her favorite moments were spent as an 80s dancing queen in the kitchen with her children, sister, and sister-in-law. Kathy lit up every room she entered with her impeccable fashion sense. Yet, above all, she cherished time spent with her husband, children, grandson, family, and friends—her greatest treasures in life.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Domenico Spano, her beautiful children Luca Spano and Sofia Tataseo with her husband Mathew, and their son Grayson Tataseo; sister Kelly Robinson and husband Dan; brothers Christopher Lieske and wife Nicole; Jonathan Lieske and wife Ashley; in-laws Vito and Filomena Spano; brothers-in-law Simone Spano, Michele Spano, Carlo Spano and wife Kaitlin, Luca Spano and wife Nunzia Panza; sister-in-law Anna Spano; uncle William Meritet; aunt Joanne Meritet; and cousins Suzie McIlwaine, Joseph Lupo, Michael Meritet, Danielle Meritet, and Matthew Meritet.
