<p><p>Donna Jean Dobbels, 89, of rural Cambridge, died Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 11th, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Cambridge. Burial will be in Bishop Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 10th at the church with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church or Hillcrest Home Activity Fund. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral &amp; Cremation Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.</p><p><br></p><p>Donna Jean Nelson was born June 12, 1935 in Kewanee, the daughter of Julian U. and Florence M. Larson Nelson. She was educated in Bishop Hill area schools and graduated from Galva High School in 1952. She attended Western Illinois University. Her marriage to Robert J. Dobbels took place on September 17, 1955 in Geneseo. He passed away on February 24, 2017. She and Bob raised grain, hogs, and cattle on the family farm from 1954 until retiring in 1995.</p><p><br></p><p>Her memberships included the Geneseo Moose Lodge No. 990, the Flemish-American Club in Kewanee, the Henry County Pork Producer, the Henry County Farm Bureau where she chaired the womens committee for 10 years, and St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Cambridge, where she taught 2nd graders for 50 years. She had also been a 4H leader for Busy Bee's 4H in Bishop Hill for 35 years. She enjoyed playing cards, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, cooking, baking, gardening, and traveling in the United States and foreign countries with her family.</p><p><br></p><p>Those surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Brian Dwyer, rural Woodhull, and Cheryl and Rick Valek, Bolingbrook, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Lanny and Diane Dobbels, rural Galva; grandchildren, Travis (Starla) Fransene, Trevor (Taylor) Fransene, Trent Fransene, Nathan (Kassie) Dobbels, Austin (Tiffany) Dobbels, Abigail (Brett) Geever, and Alyssa Valek; step grandchildren, Andrew Dwyer, and Daniel Dwyer; great grandchildren, Gage, Tatum, Talan, Barrett, Archer, Tessa, Tate, Everett and Kaylee; and step great grandchildren, Kynlee and Kora. Her parents; her husband; her daughter, Sister Becky Dobbels; a brother, Donald Nelson; and a son-in-law, Tom Fransene preceded her in death.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p></p>
