<p>Phyllis W. Garnick (nee Weiner)</p><p><br></p><p>of Longport, New Jersey, age 87, died December 23, 2024. Born in Philadelphia on November 15, 1937 to Harry and Yetta Weiner.</p><p><br></p><p>Phyllis attended Temple University and graduated from University of S. Carolina and became an elementary school teacher, kindergarten, second, third and fifth grade working over twenty-five years in the Philadelphia School District primarily at Bustleton School later named the Anne Frank Elementary School.</p><p><br></p><p>She married the love of her life, Nelson Garnick from Atlantic City, NJ and were happily married for 63 years. Phyllis and Nelson started their family in Columbia, South Carolina where Nelson was serving in the US army during the Korean War. During their time in Columbia, South Carolina Phyllis gave birth to her first of four sons, Michael. After their two years in the south Phyllis and Nelson moved back to Philadelphia where Richard, Robert and Gregg were born within four-and-half years after Michael’s birth. Now with four boys ages new-born Gregg, Robert 13 months, Richard 3 years old and Michael almost 5 years old Phyllis was a young mother cherishing and raising her four boys along with Nelson. Her boys were her pride and joy until her very last breath.</p><p><br></p><p>Phyllis enjoyed her summers beaching in Margate, NJ on Gladstone Ave. Beach. Phyllis was vivacious, beautiful, always smiling, friendly, approachable, easy to talk to, hard working, avid reader, proud wife to Nelson, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and dedicated wife, sister and sister-in-law and cousin. She was well known for her positivity, kindness and good humor. Later Phyllis and Nelson would enjoy Florida during her retirement from teaching, wintering in Siesta Key, later Long Boat Key and moving from Margate to Longport in 1995. </p><p><br></p><p>She is predeceased by her husband Nelson who passed in 2019 and is survived by her four loving and devoted sons and daughters in law; Michael (Denise), Richard (Susan), Robert (Heidi) and Gregg (Cindy), her brother, Arnold, sister in-law Marlene, brother in-law Gary, sister in-law Anne (deceased), aunt and her ten grandchildren; Lauren, Brittany, Danny, Brooke, Jonathan, Adam, Jordan, Penina (Allison), Rachael and David and great children Avigail, Tamar and Aryeh Leib. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of food or flowers the family requests all donations to be made to your charity of choice. </p><p><br></p><p>Immediately following the Service and burial family and friends are invited to Phyllis’s home in Longport, NJ. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
