<p>Evie Jean Ivey, a beacon of warmth and resilience, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, in Dallas, TX, at the age of 89. Born on August 12, 1935, in Texarkana, TX, to the late Fred Edward and Gladys (Williams) Akin, Evie's journey through life was marked by her loving nature, thoughtfulness, and courageous spirit.</p><p><br></p><p>Evie was a proud veteran, having served her country in the U.S. Air Force as a cook, a role that ignited her lifelong passion for cooking and nourishment. Her culinary skills were not just a professional asset but also a source of joy for her family and friends. After her military service, Evie's career path led her through various positions before she ultimately retired from Derrick Oil Company in Louisiana, where she was respected for her dedication and work ethic.</p><p><br></p><p>Throughout her life, Evie faced the loss of her parents, her two beloved husbands, Henry Cambron and Jesse Ivey, son Henry Cambron Jr., and all six of her siblings. Despite these profound losses, she remained an embodiment of strength and love for her surviving children, Vernita Gonzales, Verlan Eugene Cambron, and Paul Cambron. She was a cherished grandmother to Beth, Verlan Jr., Amanda, Samantha, Andrea, Adriana, Vernita Lynn, and Daniella, delighting in their accomplishments and milestones. The legacy of her nurturing spirit continues through her many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who brought her immeasurable joy.</p><p><br></p><p>Those who knew Evie will remember her as a woman of great courage, facing life's challenges with a steadfast heart. She was the embodiment of thoughtfulness, always putting the needs of others before her own and offering words of encouragement or a helping hand wherever it was needed. Her loving presence was a comfort to all, and her guidance was sought by many who were drawn to her wisdom and kindness.</p><p><br></p><p>As we bid farewell to Evie Jean Ivey, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of meaningful relationships and a commitment to service.
