Stephen L Brown (AKA “Teko”) passed away peacefully on December 17th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Steve was born in Hamilton County to Paul and Dorothy Brown.

Steve was a man of many talents including attorney, musician, wood worker and a jack of all trades. He graduated from IU School of Law and practiced for some years. He then continued on to many other endeavors. On a typical day you could find Steve in his “Little House” carving wood pieces, playing his Euphonium or in his yard gardening.

Steve loved music and was a member of the New Horizons Band where he played the Euphonium and Tuba. Some years ago, he reached out to the local Salvation Army Christmas Red Kettle program and with other members of the New Horizons Band formed The Kettle Band. Each Christmas season they were very “instrumental” drawing crowds with their festive tunes helping to fill the kettles with donations.

He loved his family dearly who referred to him as “Teko”, a name given to him by his first grand child.

Steve enjoyed time spent with family, friends and all of his pets past and present (Ben, Oliver and Mr.

O’Malley). Steve’s favorite things were drinking coffee, reading, traveling, gardening, working in his yard and doing wood carving in his “Little House”.

His travels took him on many adventures in his life time including a solo trip cross country on his motorcycle in his younger years and later he traveled domestically and internationally with his wife and family. One of his favorite spots was sitting on the porch of his daughter and son in laws on St Simons Island GA reading the news paper and drinking coffee in the mornings and later in the day you would often find him there with a beer and a book.

He will be missed by his loving wife Tina, daughter Jodie, son in law Phil, grand children - Mac, Liam (AZ) and Callie, Sister Jane (Jim), Brother Jim (Bert), brother in law John (Laura), niece Brandi (Chris), nephews Stephen, Chad (Kelli), Jeff (Pam), Scott and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and good friends.

An Open House Celebrating the Life of Steve will be held on Feb 1, 2025 from 1:00 - 4:00 at the Benton House in Historic Irvington (312 S Downey Ave, Indianapolis, IN).
