<p>Lois E. Homeyer, age 88, a resident of Woodstock for over 30 years and a former many-year resident of Marengo, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, December 14, 2024, at the home of her son, surrounded by and under the care of her family.</p><p>Lois was born in Elgin on November 26, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Louis and Clara Kastning.</p><p>On March 12, 1955, she married Harold Homeyer. Harold preceded Lois in death on January 6, 1989, after 33 years of marriage.</p><p>For many years, before getting to enjoy retirement, Lois had worked alongside her husband on their family’s farm and later worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Florence Nursing Home in Marengo.</p><p>Lois is survived by her three children, Steve and his wife Kaye, Jerry and his wife Bonnie, and Doug and his wife Lori Homeyer.</p><p>Other survivors include her ten grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Irene (the late Don) Bauman and Dar Mortimer; her brother-in-law, Ron Krog; her sister-in-law, Rita Kastning; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.</p><p>In addition to her parents and her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Stanko, her granddaughter, Jessica Homeyer, and her two grandsons, Michael Homeyer and David Nowitzke.</p><p>Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main Street in Union, Illinois 60180. Private family graveside services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Marengo City Cemetery in Marengo with Rev. Caleb Schauer, officiating. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Disabled American Veterans. Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee is assisting the family with all arrangements.
