Raquel “Shell” Louise Castillo, 43, of Port Isabel, TX, passed away at Valley Regional Medical Center on Monday, November 25, 2024.

You were the biggest, baddest, boldest, most beautiful woman who didn’t care what others thought! You were straightforward and blunt with anyone who ever crossed your path! Yet, when you loved, you loved with every bit of love you had to offer! Everyone who knew you was so lucky to have you in their lives!

Although you left our lives too soon, those who knew you absolutely loved you and knew they shouldn’t cross you! Those who really knew you, knew how amazing you were to have loved and cared about them. Thank you for sharing your time with us all. We are beyond thankful for having you in our lives!

You’ve been referred to as unique, extraordinary, and a person with a beautiful heart. You were always the life of the party no matter where you went—even shopping at HEB because their music was just right for dancing and singing, which you did so well!

In our family, you were the rock. You were the toughest person everyone knew! You said what others wanted to but were too afraid to say. You always stood your ground and didn’t let anyone mess with our loved ones.

In your last days after starting your new job, you often said you had no clue how to adult since this was your first job in a long time, given you were the primary caregiver for your mom and dad. But you did it all! You mowed the lawn, trimmed the trees, helped the neighbors, and cared for your mom and dad for years; you did it day in and out. You often worried about leaving them alone after you got your job, but they were not alone. You won’t have to stress or worry anymore; you’re no longer in pain.

We are so proud of you for taking the steps to do something for yourself! You got an amazing job with a rent-free, two-bedroom, and all bills paid home, including cable and internet! You got everything you needed for your new home without paying one cent! We knew you were in the right place. You left this place knowing your future was changing for the better!

This week was supposed to be another great party adventure with you, but now you’re experiencing something even better! Fly higher than you ever have, and thank you for all our amazing, treasured moments together! You will be missed more than anyone can ever express! Love Always and forever, your family.

Shell was preceded in death by her beloved son Bubba, Raquel Barrera Puentes, Ramon Puentes, Sixto Castillo Sr., Maria Elena Castillo, Arnulfo Puentes, Enrique Puentes Sr., Andres Puentes, Norris Glenn, Maricella Casonova, Sandy Garza, Mark Vasquez, Cecilia Ann Vasquez, Maria Elena Puentes, and Ophelia Manuela Vasquez.

Left to cherish Raquel’s memory are her Parents: Sixto Castillo Jr. and Sandra Puentes Castillo; Siblings: Sarah Guevara, Sixto Castillo III, Maria Elena Castillo, and Debbie Castro; Nieces: Avalyna Guevara, Alexandra Guevara, and Alina Castro; Great-Nephews: JoRey Guevara, Ronin Smith, Rahj Smith, and Rennox Smith; Brother-in-Law: Gilbert Guevara and Seth Phifer; and Nephews-in-Law: Aaron De Los (KID) Santos and Broderick Smith.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX.

You may sign the online guestbook, light a remembrance candle, or send words of comfort to the family of Raquel “Shell” Louise Castillo at www.thomaegarza.com.

The arrangements are entrusted to Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and Crematorium, 395 S.
