<p>Mitzi G. Gross passed away on November 23, 2024, at the age of 61. Born on September 24, 1963, in Port Arthur, Texas, Mitzi's radiant spirit and kindhearted nature touched the lives of many throughout her journey.</p><p>Mitzi was the cherished wife of Steve Gross and the loving mother of Samantha (Nathen) Pastorik. She found joy and pride in her role as a stepmother and adored her grandchildren, each of whom brought immense happiness to her life. Mitzi's family circle included her devoted father, Walter Mayden; her caring sister, Melissa (Dan) Lundberg; and her supportive sisters-in-law, Sandy, Susan, Colleen and Becky and her mother and father- in-law Jeff and Barb Gross. Her life was enriched by the presence of numerous nieces and nephews, who will remember her fondly. Mitzi was preceded in death by her mother, Charlotte (nee Colvin) Mayden, and her first husband, Dick Welch, whom preceded her in 2012.</p><p>Mitzi's educational journey was marked by her graduation from Morris High School in 1981, followed by her achievement of a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University.</p><p>After a fulfilling career, Mitzi retired from the City of Morris Water Department in September 2024. Her professional life was characterized by a strong work ethic and a commitment to her community. Mitzi's contributions to the Water Department were deeply appreciated by her colleagues and the many citizens she served.</p><p>Mitzi's love for life was evident in her involvement with the First Baptist Church of Morris, where she found spiritual fulfillment and fellowship. She was fun-loving, caring, sweet and generous. She always had a positive attitude, which spread to the rest of us even in hard times. She was always looking at the best side of things in life. Known for her generosity, Mitzi often went out of her way to ensure the well-being of others.</p><p>Her friends and family will fondly remember her favorite pastimes, which included cherishing moments with her beloved grandchildren and spending quality time with her family. Mitzi found joy and relaxation aboard the pontoon boat at the Gross family lake house, where laughter and love were always in abundance. Mitzi relished the opportunity to attend plays with her sisters-in-law and her sister, Melissa.</p><p>A celebration for Mitzi’s life will be held at a later date.</p><p>An online guestbook can be found at www.ucdaviscallahan.com where memories and photographs can be shared.
