<p>Sheryl Dean Ferguson Melton, 73, of Sasser, GA passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday November 25, 2024, in the Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Henry and Rev. Morris Monkus officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. </p><p>Sheryl was born on August 17, 1951, in Edison, GA the daughter of the late James Henry “Buddy” Ferguson, Sr. and the late Willo Dean Britt Ferguson. She was a retired caretaker with the Dawson Senior Citizens Center and a member of the Sasser Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Lenora Ferguson and husband, John Ross “JR” Melton, Jr. </p><p>Survivors include 5 daughters, Penny (Kevin) Hamby of Dawson, Britt (Cliff) Landers of Plains, Claudette (Michael) Hayes of Edison, Donna Melton of Shellman and Leigh (Robert) Edwards of Sasser, a sister, India (Bubber) Herrington of Sasser, a brother, James Henry “Buckwheat” (Wanda) Ferguson, Jr. of Shellman, 13 grandchildren, Kayla (Cedrick) Hamby, Little Kevin Hamby, Devin (Alaina) Hamby, Cody Causey, Gracen (Jacob) Poole, Blake (Kirsten) Daniels, Jordan Daniels, Paige (Zach) Stafford, Kylee Hayes, Bella Hayes, John Tucker, Willo Tucker and Piper Edwards, 7 great grandchildren. </p><p>Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Hamby, Devin Hamby, Blake Daniels, Cody Causey, Zach Stafford and Clint Ferguson. </p><p>Memorials may be made to the Sasser Baptist Church P. O. Box 508 Sasser, GA 39885.
