Alvarado, a cherished matriarch and lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on November 20, 2024, at the age of 74. Irma was born on July 24, 1950, to Frank and Irene Hernandez.</i></p><p style="text-align: center"><br></p><p style="text-align: center"><i>She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Blas L. Alvarado, with whom she shared nearly 51 years of marriage filled with love and many adventures. The legacy of her strong spirit and work ethic lives on through her children, Dr. Christopher Alvarado (Stephanie), Debra A. Cameron, and Bonny Jean Requejo (Rodolfo, Jr.), who will forever cherish the lessons and love she imparted.</i></p><p style="text-align: center"><br></p><p style="text-align: center"><i>Irma's memory will also be treasured by her grandchildren, Joshua B. Cameron, Jeremy A. Cameron (Briza), Alexandria A. Requejo and Alyssa R. Requejo. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she took great pride in their accomplishments and milestones. She was a guiding star in their lives, always present with support and encouragement.</i></p><p style="text-align: center"><br></p><p style="text-align: center"><i>Irma is survived by her sister Rose H. Valdez-Nahnsen (Steve) and was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Irene Hernandez, siblings Zulema Hernandez, John Hernandez, and Sonya H. Vasquez (Curtis+). Irma's presence will also be deeply missed by her many extended family members.</i></p><p style="text-align: center"><br></p><p style="text-align: center"><i>Irma's zest for life was evident in her travels and interests. She found joy in taking trips to various casinos, where she shared laughs and good fortune with her husband, friends and family. Summers were a special time for Irma, as she loved basking in the sun and cooling off in the pool, often surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren, creating memories that they will hold dear for years to come.</i></p><p style="text-align: center"><br></p><p style="text-align: center"><i>Irma's unwavering faith, enduring strength, and boundless love for her family will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her. Her spirit, though no longer in physical form, will forever be felt in the gentle breeze on a warm summer day, the excitement of a winning slot machine, and the laughter of her grandchildren as they reminisce about their time with her.</i></p><p style="text-align: center"><br></p><p style="text-align: center"><i>Irma's journey on earth may have concluded, but her story will be recounted with admiration and love for generations to come. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her husband and other loved ones who passed before her, and they will carry her memory in their hearts until they meet again.</i></p><p style="text-align: center"><br></p><p style="text-align: center"><i>The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Cottages at Danny Kaye and everyone who contributed to her care throughout her final journey. We're also deeply grateful to all blood donors, whose selfless acts undoubtedly gifted us more precious time with Mom. We express sincere appreciation to Margarita Guerra for escorting Mom to appointments and providing support whenever needed. Mom cherished every moment spent with her. And we also express great gratitude to Fr. Brian Garcia for his compassionate response in her hour of need.</i></p></p>
