John Allan Collins

John Allan Collins, a man known for his loving nature and passionate spirit, passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 59. Born on April 2, 1965, in Dayton, Ohio, John's life was a testament to the enduring bonds of family, the rewards of hard work, and the simple pleasures of the great outdoors.

John's early years in Dayton laid the foundation for a life filled with love and ambition. His journey led him to the heart of Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Sharrie Collins, on May 11, 1990, at First Baptist in Heath, TX. Together, they raised two sons, Christian McDonough and Keaton Collins, who were the center of John's world. His commitment to family extended to his sisters, Tina Miller and Gail Morris, and brother, Mark Collins, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. His life was further enriched by the joys of his nephews, Kyle Morris, Todd Burgamy, Travis Parker, Chase McDonough, and Brandon Rhode, and his nieces, Teletha Brode, Ashley Eaton, and Madison De Ande. John also held a special place in his heart for his sister-in-law, Lecia Brown, and brother and sister-in-law, Skip and Debbie McDonough.

John was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lofland, his mother, Beverly Lofland, and his beloved sister, Gail Morris, as well as his brother-in-law, Don Morris. Each of them left an indelible mark on John's life, guiding him in his journey and shaping the man he became.

Professionally, John's work ethic was evident from a young age as he spent his formative years working in a lumberyard from ages 17-23. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to partner with his father in starting Spotwelding Consultants (SCI), a venture that showcased his innovative thinking and dedication to his craft.

John's passion for life extended far beyond his professional endeavors. He was an avid outdoorsman who found solace and excitement in hunting, fishing, skiing, and camping. His love for nature was only matched by his enthusiasm for rock and roll music, a genre that provided the soundtrack to many of his adventures. John's attendance at live concerts was a source of great joy, and his interest in the history of outdoorsmen, particularly in Texas, was a wellspring of inspiration.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00pm Friday November 15, 2024 at Reflections-Rest Haven Rockwall Location.
