Patricia A. Malone

Patricia A. Malone (née Doody) died peacefully on October 29, 2024, at Brightview Senior Living in North Andover, Massachusetts. She was 96. Born June 18, 1928, in Abington, Pennsylvania, to the late John T. and Margaret (Powers) Doody, she was raised in Philadelphia and was a 1946 graduate of Little Flower High School, where she honed her skills as an oil painter – an avocation she would practice throughout her life. Pat met Joseph Malone, also of Philadelphia, on a blind date at a Halloween party in 1956, and they married two years later. The family first settled in LaMott, PA and later moved to Lansdale, PA where Pat worked as a quality assurance inspector in the semiconductor industry. Later in life, she would live in Marshall’s Creek, PA and Sun City FL. Pat and Joe shared 52 years of marriage before his death in 2011. She then relocated to North Andover and for the past 9 years was an active member of the Brightview community.

Along with her painting, she was an intrepid traveler, visiting countries in Europe and Asia, mostly after the age of 80. Her last trip at age 90 was to the Hawaiian Islands where she was eager to visit the USS Missouri and was the only member of the tour group to have vividly remembered the end of WWII. She was a Jeopardy! fan and did the New York Times crossword puzzle daily (in pen!). Pat was also a big believer that extra butter on anything was an absolute must, and that you should never dismiss the healing power in a big dish of ice cream (with whipped cream!).

She is survived by her daughter, Joann and her husband, Greg Taylor of Portland, OR; her daughter Liz and her husband, Dan Gerron of North Andover; her grandchildren Erin Taylor Feldman (Jordan), Matt Mazzella, and Aleigh Gerron; along with her many friends and the staff at the Brightview community. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph and two brothers.

She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her for her wonderful sense of humor, her fierce love of family, her generosity, and her effortless smile.

… And those that were good shall be happy

They’ll sit in a golden chair

They’ll splash at a ten league canvas

With brushes of comet’s hair ….

~ Rudyard Kipling

The family would like to thank the staff of Brightview Senior Living for their steadfast care of Pat over the years as well as Care Dimensions Hospice for their compassionate end-of-life care.

Disposition was by cremation and the family will hold a private memorial at a later date.

For those wishing to do so, a memorial donation may be made to the Joseph P. and Patricia A.
