<p>McDuffie County </p><p>May 11, 1930 – October 28, 2024 </p><p>Mrs. Betty Adams Farr, 94 years old and a beloved lifelong resident of Thomson, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on October 28, 2024. Born on May 11, 1930, in Warrenton, Georgia, Betty graduated from Thomson High School and lived almost her entire life in Thomson. She was a committed member of First Baptist Church of Thomson. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Adams; her only brother, Billy Adams; and her husband of 71 years, Dan Farr. Betty is also survived by her three children, Rev. Daniel Thomas Farr, Jr. (Teresa) of LaGrange, GA; John Milton Farr (Michelle) of Grovetown, GA; and Rebekah Burnside (MSGT Daniel Burnside, Rtd.) of Thomson. She also leaves behind a legacy of nine cherished grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. </p><p>A devoted wife, Betty worked alongside Dan in their family furniture business as bookkeeper, and afterward she worked at Stuckey Health Care over 20 years. She also worked as a dedicated employee in several other local businesses. She also owned and operated a preschool for several years. Her unwavering commitment to her community and church marked her life. As a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Thomson, Betty served in various roles, including Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, preschool teacher, and nursery worker. In 2017, she was named McDuffie County Senior Citizen Of The Year by the Board of Commissioners. </p><p>A celebration of her life will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Thomson, officiated by her son, Rev. Daniel Thomas Farr, Jr. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, where family and friends are invited to join in honoring her memory. </p><p>Memorials in her name may be made to First Baptist Church of Thomson, or to a local church of your choice. </p><p>Please visit www.beggsfuneralhome.net to sign the family’s personal guestbook.
