<p>Thomas Donald Atkins, 82, died of pneumonia on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at St. Clair Hospital. He was born on December 21, 1941, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Donald and Bernice Atkins (DiVall).</p><p><br></p><p>He graduated from Middleton High School in Middleton, Wisconsin.</p><p><br></p><p>Tom met his wife, Diane...at a YMCA dance in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and they were married on September 21, 1963. Now married for 61 years. They have three lovely daughters and six amazing grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>With Tom's business transfers, they lived in Wisconsin, New Jersey, Tennessee, and moved to Upper St. Clair, PA in 1978, when Tom was offered a position as Branch Manager for Zurich Insurance Company. Tom's specialty was selling businesses and doing appraisals. Tom attended Pitt for classes and received a CPCU designation in the field of insurance. He's been president of the Rotary Club and IIA Insurance Club, Treasurer and President of the Upper St. Clair Seniors, as well as attending a PEA Business Club and a Good Guys Men's Cub. Tom enjoyed golfing, tennis, and bowling. He loved watching all sports...and cherished his dog, CoCo.</p><p><br></p><p>Tom and Diane have housed six foreign exchange students from France, Venezuela, Chile, Canada, Argentina and Ecuador.</p><p><br></p><p>They have been blessed with a good life, special family, and many wonderful friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Tom was preceded in death by his parents.</p><p><br></p><p>Surviving in addition to his wife, Diane Atkins (Frey) are his three daughters; Pamela Berman and husband David Berman, Sheri Evans and husband Daniel Evans, and Christine Pickell and husband Christopher Pickell; six grandchildren, Alexander Bowman, Kathryn Bowman, Daniel Evans, Sheridan Evans, Hope Pickell, and Ciara Pickell. Also surviving are his brother, David Atkins and wife, Linda Atkins, and their children, grandchildren and cousins.</p><p><br></p><p>Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, at the Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211), where funeral services for Tom will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m.</p><p><br></p><p>Please add tributes at beinhauer.com</p>December 21, 1941 - October 17, 202412/21/194110/17/2024
