<p>Kenneth M. Allen, 85, of Oneida, passed away Monday evening October 14, 2024, at Oneida Health Hospital.</p><p><br></p><p>He was born in Oneida on February 1, 1939, the son of William R. and Florence E. White Allen.</p><p><br></p><p>He married Elizabeth “Betty” Allen, the love of his life, on April 23, 1960, and they were devoted partners for 61 years. Betty died on October 29 , 2021. Family was the center of Ken’s life.</p><p></p><p>An alumnus of Oneida Senior High School class of 1957, Ken was a member of Spirit of Hope Catholic Community, attending St. Patrick’s Church where he served as an eucharistic minister, former trustee and Parish Council member.</p><p><br></p><p>Ken was employed by Niagara Mohawk for over 35 years starting out as a meter reader and retiring as a service supervisor on April 30, 1994.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his family life and professional responsibilities, Ken was a member of Knights of Columbus E. Bart Hanifin Council #473, Owls Nest #1606, Moose Club #421, Citizens Hose, DKUV, Kiwanis, NYMO Retirees Club and 25-year Club. He served on the City Zoning Board of Appeals for over 20 years. He also owned and operated Ken Allen Gas and Electric.</p><p><br></p><p>Surviving are his children, Barbara Allen, of Oneida, Susan (Ken) Spink, of Endwell, Donna (Roger) Moreland, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Judith (Frank) Mangiacapra, of Vestal and Mary (Craig) Anderson, of Middletown, DE; his grandchildren, Megan Moreland, Matthew (Catlin Gesford) Moreland, Anthony and Joseph Mangiacapra, and Davis and Grady Anderson; his great-grandchildren, Bramley and Paisley Moreland, his sister, Betty Curro, of Oneida in addition to many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Ken’s family would like to extend sincere thanks to Fourth Floor nursing staff of Oneida Health Hospital for the compassionate care he received in his last days.</p><p><br></p><p>Ken’s funeral will commence with a Prayer Service at 9:45 AM Saturday October 26, 2024, at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. Oneida followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 121 St. Joseph’s Place., Oneida, with Rev. Christopher J. Ballard officiating. Interment will take place in St. Helena’s Cemetery, Oneida. Family and friends are invited and may call on Friday October 25, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St, Oneida. Memorial contributions may be made in Ken’s memory to St. Patrick’s School, 354 Elizabeth St. Oneida, NY 13421, or Camp Lookout P.O.
