<p>Melva Hester Buck, 66, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 at her home.</p><p><br></p><p>The funeral service will be held Monday at 11 AM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will</p><p>follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 PM at</p><p>Wilkerson Funeral Home.</p><p><br></p><p>Melva was a lifelong resident of Pitt County and graduated from J.H. Rose High School. Along</p><p>with her husband, Dennis, she owned and operated Fleming’s Exxon on the corner of 10th St. and</p><p>Dickinson Ave. for many years. Melva loved fishing and enjoyed playing bingo, but most importantly</p><p>she dedicated her life to helping others, whether they were her family, children, or a complete</p><p>stranger. She was active in the local chapter supporting Fibromuscular Dysplasia, where she worked</p><p>to assist those in the community with their shared illness, helping thousands without a dime repaid.</p><p>She also started the “Give to the Troops” Girl Scout Cookie campaign which gave much happiness to</p><p>those who needed it most. Melva faced many hardships in her life, but always faced those trials and</p><p>tribulations with her faith. She was a devout Christian and always leaned on her faith to make it</p><p>through those tough times.</p><p><br></p><p>She was a walking miracle who never gave up. Her favorite thing in this world were her children and through all she was facing she never stopped one time to feel sorry for herself. She put all she had and then more into marching forward and she gave the rest to God.</p><p><br></p><p>Melva was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis James Buck; daughter, Lisa Buck Langemann; parents, Edgar and Grace Hester, and brother, Johnny Hester.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her children, Jeff Buck and wife, Jennifer, Christy Young and husband, Levi,&nbsp;David Buck, and Johnathan Buck and wife, Genna, all of Greenville; grandchildren, Kate and Claire Buck, Aubrey and Briley Langemann, and JC Buck; sister, Bedie Jenkins and husband, Jeff, of Bath; and brother, Danny Hester and wife, Donna, of Florida.</p><p><br></p>
