MaryAnn Midgett, 87, of Brick, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Village Point in Monroe.

MaryAnn was born and raised in Irvington and has resided in Brick since 1961. MaryAnn and her husband Garrett (Midge) were married at St. Leo’s in Irvington in 1961. She worked at Bell Telephone until becoming a devoted mother, staying at home to raise her children. She later returned to the work force and cherished her time spent as a teacher’s aide with the Drum Point Elementary School, working with special needs children. She was influential in getting the school district’s teacher aides a union contract. MaryAnn was a founding and devout member of Saint Dominic’s church in Brick. She volunteered her time reading to the school’s 2nd grade students, helped run the church thrift shop and worked with the Myriam Ministries. She enjoyed summers at Manasquan beach, watching college basketball, and attending Manasquan H.S. girls basketball games. Most of all she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and will be remembered for attending as many of her grandchildren’s school events/games as possible, her never ending hospitality, the infamous Oreo cookie jar, her goodbye waves at the front door and always having everyone’s favorites on hand. Among other things she was a two time breast cancer survivor, pro-life supporter and always gave people the benefit of the doubt.

Predeceased by her husband of 60 years Garrett Midgett Jr (Midge), her parents, John and Estelle (McGrath) Walsh; her siblings, Doris Walsh, Jack Walsh and Margaret Walsh.
