Sandra L. (nee Pressley) McCain, age 76, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday, September 26, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her loving children, Bridget (Frank) Farkas, Joseph Micu, and Amanda (Mike Edington) Micu; cherished grandchildren, Jordan and Jacob Micu, Aiden and Addison Basden, Jeremiah and Griffin Yuhas, Michael and Aubree Edington, and Allyson and Emily Farkas; siblings, John Pressley, Jeff Pressley, and Sherry (Tim Driscoll) Pressley; niece, Danielle (Ryan) Andreas and nephew, Zachery Shinkle; numerous cousins and many dear friends; best friends Wendy and Lisa; bonus sons and daughter Anthony, Justin and Shellie; surrogate mother Wanda; and her beloved dog, Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Betty Pressley; along with her grandparents, two aunts, and one uncle. Sandy was born September 4, 1948 in Hammond, IN and was a 1967 graduate of Hammond Tech. You could find her sewing, quilting, or reading a book on the back porch while sunning herself.  She was a member of the Woodmar Methodist Church-Hammond while also being an active participant in sewing clubs and the Red Hat Society.  She enjoyed working in her cherished yard, planting flowers every year, and feeding her beloved squirrels.  She loved going on girls' trips with her friends and family.  Sandy was a hard worker, owning her own business in transportation.  She worked until the very end. Sandy was the most loving mother, nana, daughter, sister, niece and friend to all.  Words to describe her from those who knew her include special, amazing, one-of-a-kind woman, kind hearted, warm, faithful, inspiring, and most of all, welcoming.  A blessing to all that knew her, as she made everyone feel special, welcomed, and one of her own.  We are going to miss your 'Happy Birthday' song you sang on every birthday, your “Love You to the Moon and Back,” and of course when we say love you, you always come back with “Love You More.”  She will truly be missed by all the lives she touched. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 3:00-7:00 PM with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 PM with Rev. James Denton officiating at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN.
