<p>Mr. Robert “Bob” McMillan, III, age 98 of River Road, Madison Community passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.</p><p><br></p><p>A son of the late Robert McMillan, II and Sam Ramsay McMillan, he was born May 28, 1926 in Oconee County, South Carolina, having lived all his life in the Madison Community of South Carolina. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II, having served in Italy. After serving his country, he was employed with Georgia Power where he retired. He farmed and operated large equipment, hauled gravel and did grading work. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing. He was the oldest member of Tugaloo Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the VFW Post 4346, the Clarkesville Masonic Lodge #325 and the Georgia Power Ambassadors. He was a faithful contributor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Veterans Home and the Shriners Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a granddaughter, Britton Michelle Thomas.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Ruth Wheeler McMillan; four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Ronnie Davidson of Turnerville, Georgia, LouEllen McMillan and Julia and Steve Garner both of Toccoa, Jane Spence of Brunswick, Georgia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Juanita McMillan and Sam and Jody McMillan both of the Madison Community; ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Garnett and Veronique McMillan of South Euclid, Ohio; a number of nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services will be Friday, October 4, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Kenneth Franklin, The Reverend Chip Angel and Mr. Ronnie Davidson officiating. Sons, grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Robert McMillan, Sam McMillan, Chris Davidson, Jason Carter, Jim McMillan, Bo Thomas, Ike McMillan and Carter Marsengill.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from 12 noon until the service time at 2 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.</p><p><br></p><p>The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Memorial Processing, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, VFW Veterans Home at vfwnationalhome.org or Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W.
