<p>&nbsp;Leo Patrick Sarro, Jr. Originally of the 5 towns, longtime resident of Valley Stream passed away peacefully at his home on September 3rd 2024. Leo was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Janet. He is survived by his 3 adoring children; Tracey (Paul), Mark and Kristen (Joseph). He was a devoted Grandfather of 6; Rachel, Peter, Rebecca, Joseph, Dylan and Jillian, Great-Grandfather of 2; Benjamin and Lindsey.&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p>Leo proudly joined the Hewlett Fire Department in 1966 and passionately served as a lifetime member for 58 years. He was Capt. of Hose Co #1, Capt. of floodlight Rescue, President and Statistician for the Exempts Association and Historian of the HFD. </p><p>Leo has left his mark on the Nassau County Firefighters Museum where he volunteered for over 20 years throughout it’s evolution. His lasting impact is not only in the restoration of trucks, displays and equipment, but so much more. His efforts were recognized by the dedication of the museum library in his name, to which his personal collection of related treasures were donated in hopes future generations would appreciate our firefighters. </p><p>&nbsp; </p>
