<p><p>Emelia Basset passed away on August 20, 2024, aged 89. She is survived by her sister Carmelle, her brother-in-law Robert Mohr and many nieces and nephews out West. She was predeceased by her sister Simone Mohr in 2022 and Henriette in 2024. Emelia had a good life working for the Department of Foreign Affairs for the Canadian government. She was first posted to Poland, then to Belgium. She held posts in Vatican City, Paris, Bordeaux and Bamako in Mali. She returned to St. Catharines in 2000. </p></p><p><br></p><p><p>The funeral will be held at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Monday, August 26 with visitation at 10:30 a.m. and the funeral at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
