**** CHANGE of Location*****

Prayers will be held at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kamsack, SK

HUDYE, Anne December 18, 1932 – August 15, 2024 aged 91 years.

With deepest sadness, we announce the passing of our dear mother Anne Hudye. She left this world peacefully with her family by her side on August 15th at Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK. Anne was born on December 18, 1932 to John Boyda and Anne Zelinsky. She was the second oldest of eight children. Sadly, Anne’s mother passed away in 1948, leaving her husband and children alone. This was especially difficult as Alex, the youngest, was only 1 year old at the time. However, with the assistance of Anne and her older sister Olga, John raised the children as best as he could.

Anne met and married her high school sweetheart, Nick Hudye on June 17, 1951. They lived with Nick’s parents, Nick and Aniella Hudye for their first year of marriage and then moved to a farm situated between Norquay and Veregin. Nick farmed and owned a Gravel Construction business while Anne took care of everything else including her two youngest brothers who came to live with them. Eventually they were also blessed with six children of their own; Sharon, Donna, Alan, Derryl, Randy and Patty.

Anne enjoyed farm life, planting huge vegetable and fruit gardens, raising chickens, turkeys, geese, sheep, pigs and cows, quilting and crocheting. Anne was also an exceptional cook and canner and enjoyed having company and entertaining.

Anne, Nick and their daughter Patty moved to Kamsack in 1979. Anne decided she wanted to work outside of the home and so she found a job at the Eaglestone Lodge. She worked there for 16 and a half years until she retired in 1998. She enjoyed working with the staff and meeting and taking care of the guests. During her time working at the Lodge, she was given the opportunity to go back to school and completed her Special Care Aid Diploma.

In 1996, Nick passed on and left Anne alone. She continued to be as independent as ever and worked at Eaglestone for another two years. She began to curl more and took up playing golf. She loved the competitiveness of the game and the friendships that were built. She continued to sew, cross-stitch and joined the U.C.W.L.Church group. Anne was also a member of the Kamsack Horticulture Club and showed many of her beautiful roses, flowers and vegetables earning her many ribbons and awards.

Anne enjoyed life to the fullest. Part of her greatest joy was dancing and music. She attended many dances with friends travelling to towns near and far. Anne taught herself to play the guitar at 75 years old and loved to write songs about the things that were happening in her life. Her greatest love, however, was travelling which she did extensively. Anne was not afraid to go anywhere and saw many countries, states and provinces.

Anne was very outgoing and social. She made friends wherever she went. She loved to talk to people and was curious about all things including politics and sports. She was fun and had a great sense of humor.

Anne moved to Prince Albert in 2020 to be closer to her children. She continued to enjoy life, laugh and love and was independent till her last days.

Anne is survived by her six children; Sharon (Barry) Larson, Donna Kilmister, Alan (Fran) Hudye, Derryl (Shelly) Hudye, Randy (Elaine) Hudye and Patty (Kevin) Koroluk, thirteen grandchildren; Carla (Brian) Arthur, Chad (Jenna) Larson, Brennan (Camille) Kilmister, Kristyn Asplund (Gus Hagen), Amber Hudye, Keylan Hudye, Nickolas (Maria) Hudye, Nicole (Taylor) Banister, Jeremy Hudye, Avery Hudye, Skylar Koroluk, Danielle (Jesse) Lawrence, and Jake Koroluk, and thirteen great-grandchildren; Grayson Hudye, Giselle Larson and Hunter Larson, Beckett Arthur, Lexton Arthur, Mila Kilmister, Rowan Kilmister, Remi Kilmister, Scarlett Asplund, Blair Asplund, Jackson Hudye, Brodie Hudye and Julianna Banister. Anne is also survived by her sisters; Lena Stadnyk, Olga Ostafie, and brothers; Pete Boyda and Alex Boyda.

Anne is predeceased by her loving husband Nick, her parents; John and Anne Boyda, sisters; Elsie Keller, Vicky Kriska, Irene Gurski son-in-law Jim Klimister and Grandson; Chase Hudye.

Prayer service will be held August 30, 2024 ay 8:00pm from St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish with the Funeral Mass following on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 9:30 am also from St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish, Kamsack, SK with Father Ivan Simko officiating.

Memorial donations in memory of Anne may be made to from St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish Fund, Kamsack, SK. To leave a note of condolence for the family please visit wolkowski,ca
