Glenna Marie Adams, 85, of Marengo, Ohio passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Bennington Glen Rehabilitation Center. Glenna was born on March 24, 1939, in the little town of Frew, Kentucky to her parents Daniel Hamilton and Artis (Cornett) Hamilton. Glenna grew up as one of thirteen children. On March 10, 1959, she married Archie Adams and together they shared 56 wonderful years until Archie’s passing on October 1, 2015. Glenna made a career as a nurse’s aid in a retirement community in Centerburg, Ohio.

Glenna leaves to cherish her memory her son Ricky Adams; daughters Glorean (Dave) Gilkerson and Diane (Richard) Ratliff; grandchildren Adriane (Chad) Morrison, Tiffany (Charlie) Webb, Brandon (Kristen) Adams, Joshua (Danielle) Adams, Michael (Karen) Adams, Daniel (Kaley) Forman, Lauren Forman, Kristen (Carl) Roberto, and Ally (Ryan) Wall; Great grandchildren Clarissa (Bobby) Griffith, Madison (Ryan) Hurst, Lincoln Morrison, Payton Webb, Nate Webb, Kaiden Swihart, and Kaden, Keagen, Kiara, Bailey, Bella, Camden, Jace Adams, Macklin Ross, and Will, Lainey, Nolan, and Baby Maggie Wall; great-great grandchildren Lilly and Eliza Griffith; brother Daniel Scott Hamilton; sisters Eileen, Becky Engle, and Brenda Elam, her brothers and sisters-in-law, and many, many nieces and nephews. Glenna joins in the eternal rest of heaven her beloved husband Archie Adams; her parents Daniel and Artis Hamilton; brothers Mervin, Darrell, Wallace, Marvin, Bonnell, Henry, and Willie Hamilton; and sister Velta Farler. She will be dearly missed.

Glenna was strong and unafraid to share her opinion but at the core of who she was, she was a nurturer. She loved her children and loved even more the nearly countless grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. Each one of them was subject to being spoiled by her. She always kept ice cream treats in the freezer and is quoted as saying “I’ve never told a kid ‘no’ to food.” This was one of her principles. She was always feeding people.

She loved to fish and to quilt. She made quilts with the intention of giving them away and mostly did. She loved game shows like Family Feud and especially Survivor and Naked and Afraid. She was an avid collector of Fenton hobnail glass. She loved her dogs who have survived her, Copper the beagle and Little Man the minpin. Glenna most enjoyed her yearly family reunions in Kentucky and Labor Day, when all the family would unite and she could cook for them: her favorite activity for her favorite people.

But beyond all else, Glenna was a Godly woman. She loved Jesus and she prayed with fervor. She was a dedicated member of the Centerburg Freewill Baptist Church along with her husband Archie. Glenna kept God at the heart of all she did. It made her a wonderful caretaker of the sick, nurturer to her neighbor and matriarch to her family. Her love will live on through all she touched and her hope would be that they would, in turn, feed someone that needs feeding.

Arrangements were made with Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel in Sunbury, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, July 12 from 11 to 1. A funeral ceremony will take place after visitation at 1 followed by a procession to Bloomfield Cemetery for a graveside service and burial, Pastor Bobby Griffith to officiate. All are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in honor of Glenna to the Centerburg Freewill Baptist Church (360 N Clayton St, Centerburg, OH 43011). Thank you for your generosity.
