KEWANEE - Mary Anne Sullivan, 89, of Kewanee, died Monday, July 8, 2024. She was born April 17, 1935 in Kewanee, the daughter of Marie (Vereecke) and Raymond Van Wassenhove. She married Daryl Sullivan on July 16, 1955 and they later divorced. Survivors include her daughters; Jean (Bill) Baird of Missouri, Cathy (Mark) Dana of Kewanee and Mary Lou Herring of Iowa, her sons; John (Laquata) of Florida, Tom (Pam) of DeKalb, IL, Patrick (Christine) of Alabama and Michael (Sherry) of Washington, her grandchildren; Angela (Owen) Doyle, Tom (Heather) Dana, Bill Dana, Eric (Amberlea) Sullivan, Michael (Paulina) Sullivan, Katelyn (Patrick) Miller, Kevin (Lindsay) Sullivan, Marian (Richard Luong) Herring, Amanda (Matt) Swain, Nicole (Stephen) Pepitone, Samantha (Adam) Soffe, Cameron Painter and Trayton Painter and great grandchildren; Lauren Dana, Rachel Dana, Ethan Dana, Parker Swain, Oliver Swain, Sam Swain, Jude Pepitone, Harvey Pepitone, Turner Soffe, Elodie Soffe, Raylan Sullivan, Lyra Sullivan, Nathaniel Sullivan, Caeden Sullivan and Baby Girl Miller due in November. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, brother and sister-in-law and grandparents. Mary Anne graduated from Kewanee High School and was employed at JC Penney, the University of Illinois and retired after 30 years as Secretary to the Superintendent of the Kewanee Community School District #229. She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church and currently Saint John Paul II Parish. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint John Paul II Parish on Monday, July 15 with Fr. Chris Haake officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Saint John Paul II Parish or to Visitation School. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements. The family extends their gratitude to the caregivers at Betty’s Garden for their extraordinary care during the past two years.
