Lenora Young Lederer

Lenora passed away unexpectedly on June 1 st , 2024 in San Diego following complications from a medical procedure. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jim, along with their three children, daughter Kyle Moss (husband Tim), son Brian Lederer (wife Brittany), and son Mitchell Lederer (wife Samantha). Each of their children blessed them with 2 grandchildren - Keegan, Taj, Duke, Jude, Kylar & Kenna. She is also survived by her mother, Doreen Young, five siblings, and numerous nieces & nephews spread across the United States. She is preceded in death by her father, Aaron B. Young, who passed away when she was only nine years old.

Lenora was born in Lockport, NY and was a highly gifted athlete during her school years and beyond, being subsequently inducted into the Lockport High School Athletic Hall of Fame. She & Jim began their courtship during high school when they were both 15 years old. They were married exactly one week after their college graduations in 1982 and started their family soon thereafter. They moved to the Chicago area in 1995 before settling into the San Diego region and making it their permanent home city in 1997. The word “permanent” is used loosely, as they were known to tell folks to always write their addresses in pencil, as they had 16 different homes in those 42 years of marriage!

Lenora was a beautiful woman in so many regards. A loving, devout wife; a wonderfully caring mother and mother-in-law; and a grandmother who absolutely adored her six grandkids. She was an incredible daughter (and daughter-in-law) and sister (and sister-in-law) to her two brothers, her three sisters, her three brothers-in-law and all their spouses and children. And she was a friend to ALL.

Her bedrock was her Christian faith, belief, and values which, while started at a very young age, continued to grow and mature until the day she took her first breath in Heaven. She read and studied her Bible and devotions on a daily basis, but far more importantly, she always tried to live a life reflecting that which she learned. She had love, kindness, and compassion for everyone she knew, was generous with her time and resources, and was always full of empathy and encouragement for anyone God put in her path. Her smile was infectious and her spirit was full of joy. People loved being around Lenora because she always made others feel genuinely loved. She will be missed by so, so many.

A celebration of her life will be held at one of Lenora’s favorite places: The Church at Rancho Bernardo (11740 Bernardo Plaza Court, San Diego, CA 92128) on Saturday, June 22 nd , 2024 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time. It will also be both live-streamed and recorded. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Legacy Fund of The Church at Rancho Bernardo, using the following website:
https://thechurchrb.churchcenter.com/giving/to/legacy-fund
