Lillian Curia, 86, of North Edison, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home. She was born September 10, 1937 in Elizabeth, NJ where she grew up, married, and started her family. She was also a resident of Cranford and Westfield before settling into her current home, where she’s lived for 22 years.

Those who love her know that her home was open to anyone, where there was always a seat at the dinner table or a place to rest their head.

Lillian was one in a million, with a love and generosity that did not discriminate. She was adored and admired in every role she filled throughout her life - a wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend. She was known for her sharp sense of humor, her love of a bright sunny day, and her willingness (or adamance) to add one more thing to her jam-packed calendar if it meant spending time with those she loved.

Lillian was a true woman of faith and a dedicated parishioner at her church of many years, St. Theresa’s in Kenilworth. She was a lover of the arts and enjoyed countless trips to the theatre, as well as watching films late into the night with her sweetheart. Celebrating nearly 67 years of marriage, their strong, playful love is a shining example for all those who have had the pleasure of witnessing it. The two of them were known for the way they tore up a dance floor together - and how, if her husband left the floor, she’d be calling over her brother, sons, or any of her grandkids to help her keep the dance going.

Lillian loved to travel around the world and across the United States, but she was also vocal in her pride for her home state of New Jersey, which she thought “had it all”. She particularly enjoyed spending time down the shore and by the sea, or sitting in her garden with grandkids splashing in the pool.

Aside from her reputation as an esteemed homemaker, talented seamstress, and matriarch of her family, she was also known for her accomplished career, during which time she worked for many years at Harmonia Bank, continuously moving up the ranks to Vice President of her branch.

She is predeceased by her beloved sister, Mary, and her husband, Joseph; and her two eldest grandchildren, David and Peter. She is survived by her lifelong sweetheart and husband, John P. Curia Jr.; treasured brother and his wife, Anthony & Jeannette Fedeli; her eight loving children, John, and his wife Sharon, Mary, and her husband Abbas, Tina, and her husband David, Anthony, Cynthia, and her husband David, Richard, Michelle, and her husband Peter, and Michael; 20 of her cherished grandchildren; and her 16 darling great-grandchildren.

Lillian’s presence is one that cannot be easily put into words but, suffice to say, is already sorely missed.

A Mass will be held Thursday June 13, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Kenilworth.

Visitation will be 4 to 8pm on Wednesday June 12., 2024 at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 4000 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in Lillian's memory to

Covenant House

PO Box 758636

Topeka, KS 66675-9986
