<p>Gerald P. Wakefield of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. He was born September 22, 1941 in Alfred, Maine to Elmore and Orilla (Downer) Wakefield.</p><p><br></p><p>Gerald served his country with honor as an air policeman in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964 as part of the 3960th Combat Defense Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. Prior to and following his military service, he had other occupations that took him from Maine, Hawaii, and Texas. He spoke most fondly of his time at City Mill, Pearl City, Hawaii, where he was able to have a positive impact on many associates, as a Trainer for 16 years.</p><p><br></p><p>Gerald is survived by brothers Harold Wakefield, of Peoria, Arizona; and Stephen Wakefield, of Kennebunk, Maine; and by niece, Cheryl (Autumn) Ninete of Fremont Nebraska; nephews, Ryan (Jen) Ninete, of Elkhorn, Nebraska; Mark Ninete, of Fremont, Nebraska; great nephews, Kyle Ninete, of Omaha, Nebraska; Zachary Ninete, of Fremont, Nebraska; Jaxson Ninete, of Elkhorn, Nebraska; Tucker Ninete, of Fremont, Nebraska; great niece, Makena Ninete, of Elkhorn, Nebraska; and Frances Ninete of Fremont, Nebraska. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy; son, Gerald Jr; brothers, Elmore Jr., Kenneth, and Donald; and sister, Teresa (Baggenstoss).</p><p><br></p><p>At his request, Gerald will be honored at a private service.
